September Photos

The No Rules Quilters topic for the past two months was "Thread."  There were a wide variety of finished projects involving thread.

This photo of the iris and bee was Jane's inspiration.

This is Jane's quilt, "Symbiosis."

A close up of the bee.

A closer view of the iris petals.

Wanda made a quilt using four blocks made by flower pounding.

Wanda also made a glasses case from fabric she had hand embroidered.

Alice's project began with this machine embroidered peacock.

Alice remade the piece using thread trapped under tulle for the background.

Alice also made a computer cover using the same technique.

Alice made a number of items using sticky wash-a-way stabilizer and free-motion quilting on yarn.
This is the first step in her technique.

After quilting, Alice soaked her projects in Calgon bath salts overnight to remove the stabilizer.
Below are the items she made using this process.
A scarf.

A purse.

 Another scarf.

A shawl.  Alice also made the flowers on her items.

Joyce S. made this wall hanging using recycled painted t-shirts;
which she tread painted and then quilted.

Joyce also enhanced pumpkin fabric with thread painting.

Joyce also made this thread bowl using was away stabilizer and free-motion quilting.

Members also shared other projects they have been working on.

Nancy brought her "Ugly Fabric Challenge" project.  This is her ugly fabric.

Below is Nancy's finished project.

Nancy made all three layers of paper used in her project.

She used the ugly fabric to make her flower.  The fabric was painted with Inktense  pencils.
Nancy hand quilted the layers together.

Mary shared a Spool quilt she had made in the past.

Mary also shared her "Sine Curve"  quilt.

The center curve is embellished with rhinestones.

Tam was wearing her latest project.  She made her pretty pink shirt.
